Assassin's Creed Unveils Bizarre Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that challenges traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Revealed
According to the formal statement, "A strange encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where hints of prohibited rituals and terrifying changes reverberate through the darkness." The plot presents a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a secret sect.
The mission centers on "peculiar tests and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Transformations
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was earlier where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Additional Content
Players who finish the mission will receive an special katana alongside several items hidden throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Update
This patch also introduces the game's third free story addition, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted adventure partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic techniques: Naoe introduces a performative interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.
