Israeli forces allegedly struck the chief of staff of Lebanon's Iran-aligned faction Hezbollah in a airstrike on Beirut's southern suburbs, according to the office of the Israeli PM on the weekend.
This was the initial strike in months on the southern district of the capital city, an zone recognized for housing officials from the group.

The official added that the administration was alerted following the strike, and a another American official mentioned that the US had known for several days that Israeli forces was intending to intensify strikes in Lebanon.

“We shall carry on to do whatever is necessary to hinder the group from re-establishing its ability to threaten us,” he declared.
